Polymer Logistics Receives Golden Medal Innovation Award At Macfrut 2015
Polymer Logistics, a leading provider of retail-ready packaging (RRP) solutions, has been presented with a Golden Medal in the Innovation Awards held at the fruit and vegetable trade show, Macfrut 2015, in Rimini, Italy.
Winning in the “Packaging and Material Packaging” category, the original design and manufacture of Polymer Logistics’ Wood Effect crate was recognised.
Macfrut, an international trade show with exhibitors representing the food and vegetable sector, has been running yearly in Italy since 1983. However, the Innovation Awards were launched for the first time at the event this year, which ran from 23rd-25th September. Focusing on environmental and economic sustainability, the Awards were dedicated to reviewing the most technically significant innovations in various categories from packaging and logistics to agriculture and cultivation.
The jury that awarded the Golden Medal to Polymer Logistics was composed of an expert panel of professionals from the food and vegetable sector and industry journalists. Having been announced as award winners at the start of Macfrut 2015, Polymer Logistics had the Golden Medal notification displayed on their stand whilst a formal ceremony took place on Friday 25th, the last day of the show, in which the Innovation Award was presented to Gian Paolo Mezzanotte, Polymer Italy country manager.
Polymer Logistics were also exhibiting its winning product, the Wood Effect crate, over the course of the show. Characterised by the innovative design and manufactured in PP, the plastic crate is foldable, stackable and fully recyclable. It is robust in order to protect perishable contents and improves logistical efficiency with its Active Lock feature so crates can be folded away for more ergonomic transportation and easier handling across the supply chain. Also, while benefiting from being a plastic crate and therefore a more sustainable and hygienic choice for food manufacturers, its wood-like appearance is appealing for a market-fresh impression on food aisles.
LPR Hits Record Heights In Annual Satisfaction Survey
La Palette Rouge (LPR), a division of Euro Pool Group, has scored top marks in its annual survey of retailers.
The latest set of results shows the company has continued to improve its offering and is recognised as the leading pallet pool operator in the UK, scoring 98% good or excellent ratings for pallet quality, 98% for collection handling and 100% for friendliness of staff.
Each year, LPR surveys a selection of its mass-volume drop points to ensure that its values around service and quality are consistently upheld and recognised by those who interact with the company and its distinctive red pallets every day.
This year’s results once again saw LPR rated as better than its competitors in the four core areas of customer service, pallet quality, collection services and enquiry resolution.
Andrew Bradshaw, asset manager at LPR, said: “It’s important for us to measure the perception of our pallets and customer service with the drop points every year, as these are the people who interact with us on a daily basis. We’re delighted to have scored so well yet again, especially in the wake of continued consolidation among our 3PL partners.
“In the past 12 months, we’ve brought on board additional business for Nestlé, Weetabix and Kellogg’s, which has seen even more red pallets making their way into retail drop points up and down the country. It’s vital for us that we continue to maintain the personal touch and high customer service ethic we are known for while our operations grow.
“To consistently achieve such high scores in this independently-conducted survey is testament to the hard work of each and every member of the LPR team. We firmly believe in delivering the best possible service to every single one of our customers and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to reach our high standards once again.”
This is the 12th year in which LPR has conducted the retail drop point survey in the UK. A representative sample of drop points is chosen for interview by a third party and LPR then acts on the anonymous feedback it receives. The research for this year’s survey was carried out in May and June 2015.
LPR Appoints New Senior Roles To Drive Forward UK And Ireland Expansion
La Palette Rouge (LPR), a division of Euro Pool Group, has strengthened its UK and Ireland management team with two new strategic appointments. The move follows a targeted focus on the UK and Irish markets, leading to record growth for the company, which now handles more than 14 million pallet movements.
Adrian Fleming has taken on the role of UK and Ireland General Manager and Andrew Diston has joined as finance manager. Their roles will help drive the commercial development and operational excellence of the business.
Fleming, a business leader with more than 15 years of experience, said: “This is an exciting to time to join LPR, with new contract wins and company growth. I am looking forward to developing its strategic vision and supporting its continued success.”
Diston added: ““I am delighted to join the team at LPR and am very much looking forward to the challenges of the role.”
They join Andrew Bradshaw (asset manager), Andrew Lee (commercial manager) and Simon Wood (operations manager) in the UK and Ireland management team.
Xavier Goube, managing director of LPR Group, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Adrian and Andrew to the team. These key appointments reflect our commitment to the UK and Ireland markets, and we will continue to invest in people, facilities and processes to further support our customers and their evolving requirements.
“Our UK and Ireland investment and expansion has definitely paid off; a 40% year-on-year increase in pallet movements has helped increase our market share to 14% of the total UK market.
“We want to keep this momentum going to support our customers and I am confident that our management team has the skills and drive to enable us to continue to grow our market share even more in the future.”
LPR delivered 62 million pallets across Europe in 2014, rising from 53 million in 2013. This is expected to grow further in 2015 due to a number of new contract wins with high profile blue chip FMCG manufacturers, including Nestlé and Kellogg’s.
Last year, expansion saw the company move its UK and Ireland headquarters to a new base in Studley, Warwickshire, and make strategic new appointments to boost its UK and Ireland performance. LPR now has over 40 personnel in the UK and Ireland.
