Onwards Will Be Showing Off Different Aspects At Multimodal
Onward Holdings will be showcasing three different aspects of its business when it exhibits at the Multimodal show in early May.

The company, which operates from five different northern sites in Ackworth, Castleford, Featherstone, South Kirby and Scunthorpe, is keen to highlight its extensive range of warehousing options.

The business has over three quarters of a million square feet of warehouse space ready for occupation throughout the area, including quality sites located within easy reach of the major motorway networks for fast delivery to all parts of the UK and the Humber ports for exports overseas.

Typical of these is the Langthwaite Business Park in South Kirkby, near Wakefield, which is close to the A1 motorway and consisting of two large adjacent buildings. The site provides a range of quality units of 30,000sqft, 60,000sqft, 90,000sqft and 120,000sqft. Each of the units benefits from ample dock loaders and surface doors, with large yards suitable for multi-vehicle operation and generous integral offices.
Onward Holdings will also be promoting its proposed plans for developing a range of modern, secure LGV commercial operating facilities on the edge of Scunthorpe.
Although the proposals are still embryonic, the forward thinking business is hoping to provide sites that include a shared user facility for 'owner operators' through to bespoke facilities aimed at medium sized fleets.

This move by Onward Holdings has been prompted by the development of additional port facilities in North East Lincolnshire which is likely to lead to an increased demand for additional, easy access, safe and secure parking. With three quarters of the UK's population within four hours journey time from Scunthorpe, which also has easy motorway access, the company is hoping that transport managers attending Multimodal will see the benefits of the proposed development.
Onward Holdings director Neil Storey adds; "The business is very pleased to be exhibiting again at Multimodal. With a range of different options to suit most budgets, together with additional value-added warehouse services, we believe that the facilities offered by Onward Holdings are second to none and can help transform the northern supply chain."

The family-run business has been involved in warehousing and industrial estates owned and run by the company since 1930. All the warehouse units available from the company include 24 hour security and flexible leases, offering the perfect package to help companies maximise their supply chains.
Site promotions are being handled by Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield.

Yearsley Goes Global With New Division
Yearsley Group is going global with the launch of a new global logistics and freight forwarding division. Providing a single source solution to UK food manufacturing customers, the service will see Yearsley Group take control of the logistics and import operations for products from overseas suppliers, throughout their journey to Yearsley Groups wide logistics network.

The new offering extends the groups current service (of domestic port-side collection and deliveries into UK manufacturers) to include overseas road haulage, international freight transport, by ship or by air, and customs requirements. Development of partnerships with overseas logistics operators will allow customers and suppliers to benefit from Yearsley Groups experienced management and systems, from door-to-door. It will also require investment in a fleet of skeleton trailer units to collect the range of 20ft and 40ft containers (known as reefers) as they are received by ports in the UK and distributed to Yearsley Groups national network of cold stores.

It is anticipated that the move will help UK manufacturers to reduce the number of operators and intermediaries they encounter throughout the products journey, and thereby time and cost inefficiencies. Accessing the Yearsley Group specialist frozen logistics management operation from source, also gives customers peace of mind as their container is handled by one, experienced team, throughout the journey.

Tim Moran, logistics sales director, said: Global logistics and freight forwarding is a complex business and can involved half-a-dozen different organisations from source to factory. This not only allows for cost inefficiencies but can also create a lot of red tape and stresses between the different suppliers. This single source solution aims to eliminate all of that with the provision of a more streamlined, transparent service. As with all aspects of our business, Yearsley Group will bring its experienced, well-managed systems and substantial buying power to this operation, to provide the very best quality and value to our current and future customers.

UK manufacturers will be able to request a contract covering any aspect of the product journey. This could include collection from the overseas supplier, plus international transfer, or simply collection from the UK port and road delivery into the Yearsley cold store. Yearsleys will also provide emergency air freight collection for customers with immediate and unforeseen requirements.

The global offering is expected to be of interest to many of Yearsley Groups existing manufacturing customers who source raw materials from overseas, and it is anticipated the move will allow the group to grow its share of the UK road haulage market.

Yearsley Group consolidates stock from hundreds of manufacturers in its national network of 12 cold stores, enabling customers to reduce their own storage requirements for raw materials and finished products. With a fleet of more than 300 temperature controlled vehicles, Yearsley Group is also able to offer both collection of products and distribution into the UKs largest retailers and food service providers any time of the day or night, providing a 24-hour, seven day delivery capability.

All customers have access to Yearsley Groups bespoke warehouse management system NetStock, enabling real time review of all stock stored within the Yearsley Group network. Yearsley Group also offers a vendor management service giving swift access to manufacturers storing their raw materials in their local cold store and enabling them to place specific orders as required.

Wincanton Sells Its Stake In Culina
Wincanton, has sold its 20% stake in Culina Logistics to Culina Group for 11m.

The investment in Culina resulted from Wincanton merging its chilled
consolidation activities in the UK with Culina in March 2009. Culina provides primarily chilled logistics solutions to the food and drink industry across the UK.

The proceeds of the disposal will be used to reduce Wincanton's debt.

Eric Born, Chief Executive, commented: "This is another important step in the reduction of our debt through the disposal of non-core investments and allows us to focus our attention on delivering profitable growth in the UK & Ireland business in the future."
