With a footprint of less than a metre, the ECOLINE-D from S+S is the answer where space is at a premium.
Designed to fit easily into existing conveyor systems, careful value engineering has delivered a compact, high specification metal detection system at a very competitive price.
The S+S GLS coil technology requires a very small metal free zone allowing the length of the unit to be kept to a minimum. The open, hygienic and easily cleaned design is manufactured in welded stainless steel with a bead blasted finish to ensure a long life whilst meeting food industry BRC, IFS and HACCP requirements. The conveyor belt can be changed easily and quickly by one person, without the use of tools, making a significant contribution to maximising machine utilisation.
The choice of SENSITY or GENIUS+ controls allows the performance of the unit to be matched to the needs of specific applications. Both control units use multi-channel technology to provide the highest sensitivity to all metals and digital signal processing with self-monitoring, auto-balancing, and temperature compensation. Product compensation with auto-learn function and multi-product memory simplify set-up and product change-over.
Three standard conveyor widths, 200, 300 & 400 mm, combined with 300 mm aperture height, make the ECOLINE-D suitable for a wide range of in-process and endf metal detection applications.

Climate Center Now Able To Offer Hydronic Air Conditioning With Carrier Chillers
Climate Center, the UK’s leading air conditioning and refrigeration distributor, is to supply Carrier chillers nationwide following a ground-breaking agreement with the market leading manufacturer.
The deal enables Climate Center to offer a full hydronic (chilled-water) based air conditioning solution alongside its existing refrigerant-based range, resulting in the most comprehensive air conditioning offering available from a UK supplier.
It includes Carrier’s award-winning AquaSnap chillers up to 160kW, in screw and scroll compressor versions, high efficiency fan coils equipped with the latest EC motors, plus a range of bespoke compact Air Handling Units (AHUs).
Climate Center will also have access to Carrier’s state-of-the-art heat pumps and heating only systems, in both water-cooled and air-cooled versions up to 160kW, and the manufacturer’s range of roof-top units.
Completing the line-up is Carrier’s intelligent control and monitoring system, AquaSmart, which integrates and optimises the performance of multi-component systems to deliver excellent control and energy efficiency.
As a result of the agreement, Climate Center will now be able to offer a complete range of solutions for chilled-water based air conditioning for use in hotels, shops, offices, schools and public buildings.
Scott Craig, Climate Center’s sales and marketing director, said: “We are delighted to have secured this agreement with Carrier. The company’s founder Willis Carrier is credited with inventing air conditioning more than a century ago. Today, the company has grown to become the world leader in chiller technology.”
He added: “We believe the addition of Carrier chillers and related equipment gives Climate Center a unique offering in the market. Alongside our existing VRF/V and split ranges, it enables us to offer customers a complete range of options, to suit all applications and technical requirements. It is an unbeatable package.”

Mettler-Toledo Display Machines To Ensure Food Safety Legislation Compliance At Emballage
New rigorous food safety standards have come into force in 2012 with more to be introduced over the next few years to safeguard consumer welfare from the threat of foreign body contamination and counterfeit products.
It is vital that food manufacturers enhance control and security of their production lines to comply with global and local regulations and demonstrate due diligence to protect the end consumer and uphold brand reputation. At Emballage Packaging Exhibition in Paris, France, 19-22 November, Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Division will showcase its innovative solutions to ensure food product safety.
At the booth, Mettler-Toledo will demonstrate how its range of x-ray, metal detection, checkweighing and vision inspection technology can enhance contaminant detection and optimise traceability and label inspection. This is important to comply with strict new regulations for food safety, reducing the risk of reputation-damaging product recalls and counterfeit goods, safeguarding consumer welfare.
Mettler-Toledo has recently launched a number of innovations in metal detection and x-ray technology that it will be showcasing at Emballage Packaging Exhibition. These technologies are designed to inspect food products for contamination from foreign bodies, including ferrous and non-ferrous metal as well as glass, stone, bone, high-density plastics and rubber. The company has also developed state-of-the-art vision inspection technology to verify whether food packaging is labelled in compliance with relevant industry safety standards.
All technologies guarantee the safety of the food supply chain and enable brand owners to demonstrate due diligence at every point in their production line from processing to packaging and transportation.
At Emballage, Mettler-Toledo Safeline X-Ray will showcase its newly-launched X3310 x-ray system for the first time. This next generation of x-ray technology offers the same level of detection power as traditional x-ray systems with just a fifth of the energy consumption, optimising food safety while maximising manufacturing efficiency and profitability for brand owners.
The business unit will also display the InspireX2 R40C500, an x-ray system specifically for medium- to large-sized packaged products. This offers food manufacturers high-speed precision foreign body detection and inspection for other quality defects, including fill level, seal integrity and checking for missing items, such as safety leaflets, to further ensure consumer well-being.
The new Profile Select from Mettler-Toledo Safeline Metal Detection developed to enhance metal detection for wet and conductive products will also be on display at booth E029. Its Variable Frequency Technology automatically selects the optimum detection frequency to overcome the “product effect” caused by electrical signals induced in the product as it passes through the machine without compromising contaminant detection sensitivity. The system’s automated set up allows it to inspect new and varied products, guaranteeing food safety while boosting production line flexibility.
New vision inspection technology from Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision capable of examining packaging labels for correct information, placement and legibility will also be showcased. As well as enabling manufacturers to comply with strict labelling regulations, the display of clear and accurate ingredient information ensures consumer safety from allergens or unsuitable dosage.
To demonstrate how brand owners can fully integrate their product inspection system to improve data monitoring efficiency, Mettler-Toledo will be exhibiting its ProdX data monitoring software. Capable of connecting Mettler-Toledo metal detection, x-ray and checkweighing systems to collect productivity data in a central location, including product rejection incidents and fill level monitoring, ProdX improves ease of use for manufacturers. All of Mettler-Toledo’s systems guarantee precision, high-speed product inspection, enabling food manufacturers to meet and demonstrate compliance with increasingly stringent safety and quality regulations while maximising production line efficiency.
