Parkside Investment Plans Buoyed By Appointment Of New UK Operations Director
Speciality packaging manufacturer, Parkside, has appointed a new UK operations director as the company continues to make significant investments in its sites in the U.K and Asia.
Alex Henderson is an experienced general manager and has worked in the print industry for more than 30 years, having previously been employed by Trinity Mirror Printing, News International Newspapers and Smurfit Newspress.
He said: “I am looking forward to helping the business achieve its commercial objectives. Parkside has a tremendous growth strategy in place and is launching some fantastic new products to customers. I am excited about the prospect of using my skills and experience to help deliver business improvements and further our adoption and development of industry best practice.”
Alex’s new role will see him manage the transfer of a printing press from the company’s UK site in Normanton, West Yorkshire, to Parkside’s Malaysian operations and the installation of a new press at the UK site in a few months’ time.
The UK manufacturing site is also undergoing a programme of renovation and refurbishment which Alex is responsible for overseeing.

Waitrose has announced that Ben Stimson will become Retail Director on 27 March, moving into the role vacated by Rob Collins who becomes Managing Director on 4 April following the departure of Mark Price to become Minister of State for Trade & Investment.
Ben joined the John Lewis Partnership in 2010, and has held a number of senior roles in both John Lewis and Waitrose. He is currently a member of the John Lewis Management Board and, immediately prior to that, he had been Director of Retail Operations at Waitrose for two years from 2013.
Rob Collins said: “Ben is a talented individual who has already made a great contribution to the Partnership. He'll be a terrific Retail Director and an effective member of the Waitrose Management Board.” After graduating, Ben worked as a management consultant and from 2001 – 2009 he held a number of senior marketing and communications positions at Sky. Ben has been on the Board of the Nationwide Building Society's charitable Foundation since 2008 and became Chair in 2012. He lives in Teddington, Middlesex with his wife and two young children.

Instructed by farmers whose livestock contracted Foot and Mouth Disease in 2007, he was central to an important test case against the Institute for Animal Health, DEFRA and others.
His cases often have a European dimension and he has acted in the European Court of Justice.
In addition, he also advised clients on a wide range of commercial disputes including partnership disputes, agency law, banking litigation and professional negligence claims.
He also acts on planning and environmental disputes with particular expertise in cases involving the adoption of sewerage systems.
