Bakkavor Welcomes Latests Recruits On Accelerated Management Scheme
Bakkavor, the UK’s leading fresh prepared foods manufacturer, is pleased to welcome 22 new recruits on to its Accelerated Management Scheme (AMS) this autumn.
Now in its 16th year, over 240 young people have been through the Scheme, which develops the next generation of innovators and leaders of the business, giving them a two year fast track route into senior level management.
The scheme involves a mix of on and off the job training and it runs across a number of key functions of the business including development, finance, human resources, manufacturing, technical and commercial. This year Bakkavor has also introduced ‘marketing’ and ‘international’ specialisms to the scheme to further support its strategic growth plans.
Dan Thorne, Marketing AMS graduate, commented: “I am really thrilled to be starting at Bakkavor on the Accelerated Management Scheme. It is great for me to gain on the job training from day one with a leading manufacturer, along with the opportunity to gain valuable insight and experience into the many aspects of the fresh food industry.”
Pippa Greenslade, Group HR Director, commented: “We are delighted to be welcoming the new recruits to Bakkavor on the Accelerated Management Scheme which offers individuals a range of opportunities within a fast moving yet supportive environment.
"Bakkavor takes their commitment to investing in their people very seriously. We are focused on attracting bright graduates, driving industry leading standards, and nurturing the talent that exists within the business.”
Leading inline digital printing experts DataLase have appointed Adam O’Rourke and Martin Walker to help lead the expansion of the digital print business.
DataLase technology has ultra-high performance laser print capabilities, to deliver high speed, high resolution, on-demand digital printing. The solutions enable brand owners to digitally print products and packaging in-line, at full line speeds, realising maximum benefit from late stage customisation.
Dr O’Rourke has become the new Programme Manager of Materials. Having already worked for DataLase for the last 5 years, Adam has an extensive knowledge of design and development of laser reactive materials and coatings. He will be responsible for the management of internal and external R&D programmes for materials and will work closely with the CEO to drive continued innovation within the business
With over 14 years of experience working at DataLase, Martin Walker makes the transition to Technical Services Manager. Martin will be responsible for provision of internal and external technical support, working closely with the business development team, suppliers, strategic partners and customers, to address technical enquiries, accelerate product development and ensure quality standards are implemented and maintained.
CEO of DataLase, Chris Wyres, says, “The demand for flexible marketing, which drives late stage customisation of packaging, has increased significantly. Whilst there are some established solutions and players, the landscape is highly dynamic, with brand owners actively searching for alternatives that enable high-quality, cost-effective inline digital printing. DataLase technology platforms deliver this, allowing brand owners to enhance marketing capability and realise maximum value. As a result, we are entering a high growth phase and consequently are gearing to service the needs of a rapidly expanding install base.”
LPR Appoints New Senior Roles To Drive Forward UK And Ireland Expansion
La Palette Rouge (LPR), a division of Euro Pool Group, has strengthened its UK and Ireland management team with two new strategic appointments. The move follows a targeted focus on the UK and Irish markets, leading to record growth for the company, which now handles more than 14 million pallet movements.
Adrian Fleming has taken on the role of UK and Ireland General Manager and Andrew Diston has joined as finance manager. Their roles will help drive the commercial development and operational excellence of the business.
Fleming, a business leader with more than 15 years of experience, said: “This is an exciting to time to join LPR, with new contract wins and company growth. I am looking forward to developing its strategic vision and supporting its continued success.”
Diston added: ““I am delighted to join the team at LPR and am very much looking forward to the challenges of the role.”
They join Andrew Bradshaw (asset manager), Andrew Lee (commercial manager) and Simon Wood (operations manager) in the UK and Ireland management team.
Xavier Goube, managing director of LPR Group, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Adrian and Andrew to the team. These key appointments reflect our commitment to the UK and Ireland markets, and we will continue to invest in people, facilities and processes to further support our customers and their evolving requirements.
“Our UK and Ireland investment and expansion has definitely paid off; a 40% year-on-year increase in pallet movements has helped increase our market share to 14% of the total UK market.
“We want to keep this momentum going to support our customers and I am confident that our management team has the skills and drive to enable us to continue to grow our market share even more in the future.”
LPR delivered 62 million pallets across Europe in 2014, rising from 53 million in 2013. This is expected to grow further in 2015 due to a number of new contract wins with high profile blue chip FMCG manufacturers, including Nestlé and Kellogg’s.
Last year, expansion saw the company move its UK and Ireland headquarters to a new base in Studley, Warwickshire, and make strategic new appointments to boost its UK and Ireland performance. LPR now has over 40 personnel in the UK and Ireland.
