Mr Collings has spent his working life in the frozen meat industry, latterly in senior technical positions with Tulip Foods and the Tranfield Meat Company. He reports to joint managing directors Philip Paul and Albert McGovern.
In internal moves Samantha Farrelly has been appointed new product development manager and Otto Antal as specification co-ordinator whilst Lorena Amad Valesquesa has joined the company as quality auditor.
The Welsh Retail Consortium (WRC) has appointed Sara Jones as its new Head of Policy and External Affairs, replacing John Munro who takes on the careers portfolio with the British Retail Consortium.
Sara’s brief is to build on the strong position that the WRC holds in Wales and to lead on the implementation of the organisation’s strategy across Wales. Sara has joined the WRC from the global communications agency Grayling where she was Director Wales; she has previously held corporate affairs roles for Environment Agency Wales and British Waterways. She brings to the role a wealth of knowledge in stakeholder engagement, political lobbying and public policy and will focus this experience into building relationships between members and key partners in Wales.
Helen Dickinson, Director General of the British Retail Consortium, said: "I am delighted that Sara has joined us to head up the Welsh Retail Consortium. We are committed as an organisation to working with our partners in Wales and Sara’s experience and knowledge will add value to our members in terms of their work in a devolved environment."
Sara said: “I am very pleased to take on this key role leading the WRC representing such an important sector which offers so much to the economy of Wales. Retailers provide vital services, essential jobs and training, and help to make our villages, towns and cities thriving and pleasant places to live. I am delighted to be representing their interests in Wales and am looking forward to working with elected members, officers and stakeholders from across Wales to highlight the important role this sector plays.”
The BRC’s Head of the Devolved Nations, David Lonsdale, said: “Sara will be an excellent addition to the team and help complement our work across Scotland and Northern Ireland with her in depth knowledge of the Welsh landscape. I know Sara is committed to furthering vibrant consumer focused retail and will work hard for our members’ interests.”
