Pizza Without Piling On Pounds With New 400kcal Delight
Diet loving pizza fans can finally rejoice at being able to gorge on their favourite food without fear of piling on the pounds.
Online healthy food retailer, MuscleFood.com has developed a new diet alternative to the nations favourite fast food containing less than 400 calories.
Each ten inch pizza is the equivalent of around two slices from the UK’s most popular takeaways, or a third of the calories found in supermarket frozen pizzas.
Each pizza contains just 190 kcals per slice, is high in protein and carbohydrates and is naturally gluten free. Each pizza contains less than half a teaspoon of fat.
Calorie content is kept low with an oval protein base fortified with pea protein, rather than the traditional round, carb and fat filled dough base.
The pizza’s come with four different toppings, Mediterranean vegetable, goat’s cheese, chicken tikka and the classic margherita.
The 364 kcal margherita has the lowest calories out of the three, topped with a tangy tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella.
The tempting 378 kcal Mediterranean vegetable diet pizza is topped with courgettes, red and yellow peppers with the 386 kcal goats cheese diet pizza finished with goats cheese and caramelised red onions.
The chicken tikka light has 380 kcal and is topped with chicken chunks marinated in a tikka style sauce and roasted red and yellow peppers.
Each pizza takes just 12 minutes to cook in the oven, making them quick and convenient.
The diet pizzas look set to be a big hit with men and women watching their waistline who can indulge without feeling guilty and fitness fans careful about what they eat.
The pizzas are available from Musclefood.com and are priced at £3.95 for one 10” diet pizza.
Darren Beale of Musclefood.com said: “When you’re on a diet it can be hard to give up the foods you love and it’s those weekend takeaways and naughty treats packed with calories that we all miss.
“We wanted to create a pizza for dieters and those following a healthy eating plan which tastes and looks as good as anything you’d order from a takeaway without all the fat, carbohydrates and calories.
“We developed three tasty toppings which are low in calories and high in taste and hope to add more to the range if these prove popular.
“The feedback from customers has been amazing. The first batch sold out in 48 hours which goes to show how much customers really do want to be able stick to their diets whilst enjoying their favourite binge foods.”
Darren continued: “The calorie count of takeaway pizzas is well into the thousands, so it’s great that we are able to offer an alternative that means people can keep in shape without giving up the food they love.
“With each pizza containing less than 400 calories, we believe that this is quite possibly the lowest calorie pizza available in the UK.”
Healthy Eating Delivery App Launched at Derriford Hospital by Fresh From Warrens
Cornwall's oldest bakery takes a fresh approach to hospital nutrition with the launch of a healthy menu delivery app for Derriford Hospital, the first of its kind, intended to offer much needed convenience for the medical team and support staff working in the hospital daily.
The new app, “Fresh From Warrens On the Go” is set to make meal times even easier for staff at Derriford Hospital, delivering a menu of fresh and healthy options directly to wards to save time walking hospital corridors in search of sustenance. Staff can enjoy the benefits of a varied menu, from wholesome lunchtime soups, vitamin-boosting smoothies, salads and freshly made sandwiches.
The app allows users to pre-order their lunch via the app, selecting a pre-appointed collection point near their ward where the Fresh From Warrens team will bring their order. For those that can't make the collection times, there are secure drop off points available around the hospital too.
Those working the night shift can also enjoy the Fresh from Warrens app. Between 10pm – 6am, they can pre-select their orders from a special night menu and collect from the Fresh from Warrens outlet on level 6, ideal for those working the night shift.
The launch of the app sees an ongoing commitment Fresh From Warrens has with Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust to providing healthy and convenient options for staff and visitors alike. As part of these conversations, the hospital saw Warrens Bakery rebrand as Fresh From Warrens last year, introducing new healthy eating options to the unit and most recently the launch of a new healthy meal deal initiative to encourage healthier food choices for staff and patients.
Recent research conducted by Fresh From Warrens at Derriford Hospital found that almost a third (29%) of people were looking for quick and convenient food on the go. Three of the top reasons given for choosing Fresh From Warrens was because of convenience and speed of service and the app has been developed to further enhance the offering.
Stuart Windsor, Associate Director of Facilities at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “The Trust is pleased to support this development from Fresh from Warrens. We have been working to improve the range of healthier options available to staff at the hospital and providing them with access to healthy foods, close to where they work.”
Ahead of the launch of the new app at Derriford Hospital, Chairman Mark Sullivan commented: “Day in and out we are hearing our customers are busier than ever, so for us convenience is key - without compromising on quality. Away from the high street, we recognised the need within Derriford Hospital for another level of convenience which we are happy to say our new app can provide. We hope that our fresh delivery service app means hard-working staff can collect something tasty mid-shift, without having to traipse across the building to do so. We have made sure that there are plenty of fresh and healthy options on the menu so that hospital staff and visitors can expect to enjoy a reliably nourishing delivery which is quick and simple to use.”
