New Thermal Trnsfer Coder On Display For First Time At PPMA
ACF-400 carton coder.
Allen Coding Systems - a division of ITW Ltd – will be highlighting its wide range of high performance thermal transfer, hot foil and laser coding and marking technology for the food sector at this year's PPMA show (Birmingham 29 Sept - 1 Oct). The company will be exhibiting its newly launched 53LTc entry-level thermal transfer coder for the first time in the UK on stand E61.
Minimal investment, superb print quality, reliability, product traceability and ease of use combine to make it one of the best value continuous systems available on the market today. The stand will also feature a space-saving ACF-400 offline carton coder, designed to handle the most complex pack designs, and innovative 55SST thermal transfer printer for both intermittent and continuous operation.
Like the well-proven 53LTi (intermittent) model, Allen Coding’s continuous 53LTc is priced competitively with most hot foil systems and in comparison offers greater flexibility with reduced maintenance. These key benefits enable customers to affordably upgrade to this more versatile continuous thermal transfer unit, specially developed to efficiently and accurately print vital fixed and variable text and graphics.
The main advantage of the 53LTc, which was originally designed with the food industry and users of hot foil coders in mind, is that it provides many of the advanced features of more expensive thermal transfer units, but at a fraction of the cost. These include 300 dpi print resolution; cassette ribbon loading; 600-metre ribbon capacity; 53mm (width) x 50mm (length) print area with print speeds up to 400mm per second; and a best of breed thermal print head. In addition, the ability to print two-dimensional data matrix codes makes the 53LTc ideal for pharmaceutical applications.
A robustly engineered machine, the 53LTc can be easily integrated with a wide range of packaging, labelling and other equipment where the substrate material or object to be printed is fed continuously.
Allen Coding’s compact ACF-400 offline carton coder is available with either thermal transfer or hot foil printing technology. It is capable of handling a wide range of cartons, sleeves, blister packs, leaflets and cut labels from one to six mm thick, as well as complex shapes, odd sizes and thinner materials. It is also believed to be the only system that handles both ‘crash lock’ cartons and blister cards.
The machine’s adjustable feeder and position indicators ensure quick and simple changeover. In fact, compared to traditional carton coders that typically take from five to 20 minutes to changeover from one carton size to another, the ACF-400 can be changed over in just one minute with no tools or change parts.
Offering unrivalled production flexibility, the ACF-400 is ideal for foods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics and chemicals. The stainless steel machine can operate in either intermittent or continuous mode and be very quickly switched using the touch screen. Machine parameters such as speed, index length and batch quantity are also set using the touch pad.
While the majority of thermal transfer printers provide either intermittent OR continuous motion printing, Allen Coding’s 55SST offers added flexibility and improved production line speeds by giving both printing options, and an efficient ‘instant change’ facility for switching quickly and easily between the two.
Incorporating market-leading electronics and software specially developed by Allen Coding, the 55SST provides high speeds of up to 400mm per second (intermittent) and 750mm per second (continuous), as well as unrivalled responsiveness to speed changes. This rugged machine can also be used in the most arduous of manufacturing conditions, including operating temperatures ranging from five to 40 degrees centigrade, making it perfect for meat and chilled food lines.
Ideal for reproducing a broad range of information, including bar codes, sell-by dates, batch numbers, graphics and prices, the 55SST uses data matrix and real time for increased traceability.
In addition to coding and marking equipment, Allen Coding offers machine spares and a wide range of high quality consumable products such as hot foil tape and type, thermal foil, and type holders. The company is backed by pan European customer service and support.
